Weehawken
Overall: Weehawken is on the southern end of the 180-foot-high cliffs known as the Palisades. While its earlier residential and commercial growth took place atop those cliffs, in the last decade there has been extensive development on the waterfront, giving those who find their way to this Hudson County town of about 14,000 ample choices of where to live in its 1.4 square miles. It's a perfect place for married, young professionals working or currently living in Manhattan to trade up from a one-bedroom rental to a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium on the waterfront, built in 2000s. Even New York Times dedicated an article about Weehawken telling you the vibe, the commute, the schools, and the neighborhood of town. According to New York Times, more singles who moved to Jersey City are choosing to stay when they start families, and are pushing into nearby waterfront towns like West New York and Weehawken.
Transportation: Getting to Manhattan is a breeze. Providing transportation both on land and water, Weehawken residents can take five NJ Transit bus lines 126, 166, 156, 158, 159 to Port Authority Bus Terminal and NY Waterway that provides regular ferry service* from both Port Imperial and Lincoln Harbor to Manhattan at 39th St. You'll reach Manhattan in approximately 10-20 minutes depending on your choice of transportation.
Schools: The area is served by two elementary schools - Daniel Webster School (pre-k to second grade) and Theodore Roosevelt School (3rd - 6th grade), and one high school - Weehawken high school. The school system is highly praised by Weehawken parents, especially given the high school maintains a very low student-teacher ratio. See Weehawken Public School Review.
